I remember this feeling. The year was 1996, and I had waited 15 years to see my Pittsburgh Steelers in the Super Bowl. They lost. It was the worst feeling ever. Like someone had punched me in the gut and taken the life out of me...I had to wait sixteen years for the Penguins to get a shot at the Stanley Cup this year. They got there pretty easily, and were within a game of a decisive contest for the cup. They fought hard, but the better team prevailed. I wanted to see Lord Stanley's cup hoisted in the Igloo, on home ice in the greatest sports city of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, but not by another team. The clock showed zero at the end of the third and I turned off the television. It hurts. I feel like...Like I did in '96...

I remember that feeling ... Cards having not won a World Series since 1982 and getting swept in '04(the one where I proceeded to get smashed and call them "Labia"). Obviously, I loved seeing the Wings hoist the Cup. It was an awesome series, and I'm sure the Pens will be contenders for years to come.
I too remember that day in 1996. But my memory is much different that yours...I remember watcing the greatest team in football hoist its third Vince Lombardi Trophy in three years and thereby cementing its place in Football History as the greatest EVER...Ah yest...when I think back to that January day in 1996...it is a different memory indeed...As we say in Cowboy Land...God Bless Neil O'Donnell...and by the way I am sorry about your Pens...I thought they were going to stick it in there at the very last second!
They fought like champions. They did get something during this series that Detroit had more of--Experience. I'll drink a pint tonight for what's to come in October.
