Big Night

I'm really looking forward to this evening because a friend of sister-in-law Marie that is now a friend of the family is coming over tonight to watch the Penguins with us. He's currently in town to visit his family that lives here, do a little business in Rolla, MO, and squeeze in some good times. Tim lives in Pittsburgh, PA now, and is wanting to get away from the fam to enjoy a little piece of home with good people. I'll be stopping by Papa's Pub to pick up some of the best Pizza in the area and I'll be washing it down with some new tasty beverages I picked up at the grocery store last night.

Bohemian Black Lager by Shiner Brewery is a dark brew (made obvious by the choice in name), and was originally a special edition that's now become a regular as of late '07. As most of my friends and family are aware, I'm a huge fan of solid, flavorful beers, and the thicker the better. I couldn't think of a better combination for hockey night. Good beer, good people, and good pizza. Not necessarily in that order, depending on my level of hunger and thirst for the barley & hops.

My good friend Sean Brown is watching his team go down in flames against my other good friend Craig's team, the Detroit Red Wings. Last night the Red Wings should have swept up the ice with the Stars, but the worst ref call in my sixteen years of watching hockey robbed them of a go-ahead goal. The ref called the player illegally in the crease, but replay clearly showed he was no where even close to 'in the crease'. A travesty, and I'm sure the NHL brass will be having a word with him. Of course, SB's NFL team is the Cowgirls, so he's always being chided by one or more of us in the group, including his own wife. Ironically, Brown's wife Tammy is a Philly fan, so she gets to watch the Flyers get pasted, and hopefully swept tonight, by my beloved Penguins. Sorry, Brownie and Tammy- not this year. It's the year of the Pens, baby, and I can't wait to see them hoist Lord Stanley's Cup.

CHRISTOPHER ZACKARY NASH!! Now, you know better than to talk shit about a game before the game has even taken place. Now here you are having talked hella-smack about Tammy's beloved Flyers as well as her husband's beloved Stars. You see what happened, the Flyers spanked that penguin ass of yours up and down that icy rink. Now you are going to have to man up to it and accept all shit talking givin to you. It's like taking it in the ass with no k-y. It's going to be crucial and you should be fore-warned... I don't know why you do this to yourself...I love you but you need to not talk shit till after the fact you know. Cause now, they have complete and total shit talking privleages...and you have to be that man that takes it; (ABSENT K-Y)and likes it. You may even at some point be forced to admit you were wrong...It's going to be tuff. Trust me I know. This will be the first time in 34 years the Nash family has been wrong. At least it was you and not me. FUCKING-A!!..crucial times bro' crucial times...I'm here for you if you need a shoulder.

Ha! Tim here...Nice to meet everyone. Don't worry, Chris - I'm a hard person to throw under a bus. For the record - I did need to get away from the fam and spending some time & drinking beer with good people is always a good thing in my book. (If I'm ever under the proverbial bus, it's most likely because I put myself there and I'm more than willing crawl out from under it.)

Thanks for the hospitality - you both are great people!!

In true Pittsburgh fashion, I supplied additional cold beverages that helped ease some of the pain but didn't help get the win. Next time we'll have to do the shots, Chris!!!

No shots on a work night. The game was less than spectacular, and I really wish we could have brought out the brooms, but alas, Sunday afternoon will be better since they can celebrate in the igloo.
Mandi, you realize this is a family/friend blog, right? The sailor talk I know and love is back, I see. Our mother is a regular reader, so maybe go a little light on the bar talk, eh? Oh yeah, Zachary is with an 'h', not a 'k'. Love you, too.

Easy fix for the Pens ... don't give up 10 power plays in the first period. I have to admit I'm a little behind on my Flyers' history, but didn't they steal that "Orange Crush" thing from the Denver Broncos?

CZ Nash said...

Most definitely stolen. That's what they do in Philly. Steal things.

EXCUSE ME! I know how to spell your name, I'm just so used to spelling Bri's friend Zack's name and his is with a "K". Shall I delete my comment? Was it that offensive? "Sorry Mom...I'll work on the potty mouth". Geeeez!!!!!!!!!

As Karen reminded me, Maaa is in Finland at the moment and is likely doing things far more interesting than checking out 'The Married Years'.

So I had to miss another Detroit game because of work Saturday. Caught the score and it looks like I didn't miss much. Why is it so hard to put inferior teams away? (Finland sounds fun though)
